Art Contest Terms and Conditions
The Reno Film Festival (RFF)
is conducting a poster art contest to create a general promotional
poster for our 2010 Film Festival. Nevada artists are invited
to submit their entries on or before 5:00 pm, Friday, March 12, 2010.
Two (2) All Access Passes to the 2010 Reno Film Festival will be awarded
to the winning submission. In addition to this, a public unveiling and
launch will take place at Lumiere finalists screenings in May
(dates to be determined) prior to the festival. The poster will be produced
and distributed to film festival sponsors and businesses throughout
the Reno/Sparks/Tahoe/Carson City area to promote the 10th
Anniversary Reno Film Festival. Artist acknowledgment and short bio
will be included in the festivals 2010 events program. The winning poster
will also be exhibited on the Reno Film Festival websites.
This is a
unique opportunity for local artists to express their ideas
about film. We want to increase awareness of the Reno Film
Festival among residents, tourists, businesses, students and the entire
art community. The poster should embrace our mission statement:
“To
recognize the cultural benefit of film to personal and community well-
being and promote educational and entertaining activities in the Reno/Sparks
area that honor film and filmmakers.”
Terms and Conditions
- Contest is open to any artist that is a resident
of the state of Nevada and age 15 or older as of November 1,
2009. All entries must be submitted to the Reno Film Festival
office on or before 5:00 PM, March 12, 2010. Late entries will not
be accepted. Submission details are listed on application form.
- Only
one (1) poster art submission per artist will be accepted.
- Projects
must be reproducible in a standard full color, poster format.
Artwork must be a vertical presentation in a size ratio appropriate
for use on an 8.5 x 11.5 program cover and 11” x 17” poster.
All entries must include a high-resolution digital image of the
poster in PDF format. Winning artist may be asked to produce
a hard copy or computer files of his/her poster and any unique images,
fonts, or graphics used in the poster.
- Poster must incorporate the
10th Anniversary Reno Film Festival logo which must remain original
color (logo will be available on our website) for details please

the poster must include the dates of the fest- ival June 13-20, 2010
- Reno Film Festival current board members and their families are
excluded from entering this contest.
- Previous poster contest
winners must wait out one (1) year before being eligible to enter
again.
Judging
The judging panel will be comprised
of people representing some or all of the following: Reno Film Festival
board members, community art professional, professional graphic artist,
printing industry and media representatives. Judging will take place
between March 12-17, 2010.
Notification
The winner will be notified
by telephone and announced on the Reno Film Festival website and My
Space along with over 25 other Reno Film Festival public websites on
or about March 20th, 2010. All non-winning entries will be available
for pick up by appointment only no later than March 31, 2010. Please
call the Reno Film Festival message phone at 775-334-6707 to schedule
an appointment for pick-up.
Prize
The first-place winner will receive two (2)
All Access Passes to the 2010 Reno Film Festival which will be held
on June 13-20, 2010.
Copyright
The copyright on the submitted
artwork will remain that of the artist/designer(s), but the Reno Film
Festival will have free usage of the winning concept. This means the
Reno Film Festival can use the winning design free of charge for all
of its 2010 festival communication purposes (all printed material,
TV, web pages, clothing etc.).
The submitting artist is responsible for
ensuring that all material and ideas presented with his/her poster
submission are valid and do not infringe on any existing copyrights.
Poster art submission must be original art and must not have
been submitted in any form in any other contest or juried show.
Art work must also not appear in any websites on the Internet until
after contest is over.
Important: By entering this contest, participant(s)
acknowledge and fully accept these terms, conditions and limitations
set forth above and on the application.
